Teabag filter Cleans Water Instead of Making Tea

OK, perhaps the “teabag filter” is a misnomer. It just looks like a teabag. But this new water filter can turn nasty old water into something more potable.

The BBC reports the science behind this new filter, and it’s interesting. It combines activated charcoal with a nanofiber teabag. So it can work to both remove impurities and kill bacteria. It’s perfect for low-cost applications, especially in developing countries where good water’s hard to come by.

The trick is, once you pour through this advanced teabag filter, pour it onto a normal teabag and make, well, tea. Then you get the best of both worlds!
